North Carolina Junior Sorosis (NCJS) offers
diverse opportunities for “hands-on” service in the community as well
as personal growth. NCJS is committed to promoting volunteerism,
improving our community, providing financial support to needy causes
and fostering new friendships.
NCJS was organized in 1938 as a community service organization for
women between the ages of 18 and 40. North Carolina Junior Sorosis is a
member of the General Federation Women's Club (GFWC), which is the
largest and oldest women's volunteer organization in the world. The
State Federation, GFWC of North Carolina, is divided into nine
Districts and NCJS is in District 7.
Women of all ages, backgrounds and interests work together to make
their communities, their state and their nation a better place in which
to live. Any woman who desires the opportunity for the fellowship and
fulfillment that comes from volunteering is welcome. Through Federation
involvement you can develop talents, abilities and skills which united
with a common goal enables clubs to make an impact in their communities.
Volunteer service, not only locally but also on the national and
international level, has been and continues to be NCJS' main interest.
Opportunities
for community involvement are organized within six departments. These
departments are Arts, Conservation, Education, Home Life, International
Affairs, and Public Affairs.
A monthly newsletter, monthly meetings and workshops keep individuals
informed about upcoming club activities and volunteer opportunities.
